the beginning of peace, by pd lyons

Pdlyons's Explorations

DSC_0658

So it comes to this –

Look back right now

your whole life

all that done, not done, un-done

and all that resulted –

you did the best you could

and maybe no one ever said that to you

and maybe no one ever will

but you

and when you do,

say that to yourself,

observe fearlessly

and you ‘ll know its true

you did the best you could

quiet

soft

acceptance

the beginning of peace

Junko Tabei – women we should know

Pdlyons's Explorations

In front of Tabei, who had already cleared numerous danger spots while also coping with the physical and mental stresses of high-altitude climbing, was an icy, knife-edge ridge forming part of the border of Nepal and China.

She would have to make a downward traverse of this ridge for about 14 or 15 meters — knowing that one mistake would send her plunging 5,000 meters on the northern, Chinese side or down to around 6,400 meters on the Nepalese side, where she could just see her Japanese Women’s Everest Expedition’s Camp II.  http://www.japantimes.co.jp/life/2012/05/27/people/junko-tabei-the-first-woman-atop-the-world/#.U394aoZLuJM

I am rolling on the waves
on the waves
on the waves
I am rolling on the waves
far away from shore

The sun is shining not too strong
not too strong
not too strong
The sun is shining not too strong
far away from shore

Happy dolphins guiding me
guiding me
guiding me
Happy dolphins guiding me

Had A Dream About Clint Eastwood, by pd lyons

we were doing something with horses

not riding or roping

just putting our hands on them

feeling the sunlight through them

and smiling

True Democracy & Boomerz by pd lyons

Pdlyons's Explorations

See I was taught that democracy takes courage. The courage to allow the rights of the other. Not only their right to exist but their rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That it takes democratic courage to allow the other a voice, a choice, a privacy, an equality.

The belief that majority rules is erroneous with regards  to true democracy. Otherwise everything depends on the personal belief of the many. This is only might makes right, this is not democracy. Democracy is the courage of all to allow the human and civil rights of all.

The question we should be asking people is – do you really want to live in a country where the your rights and the rights of others may justifiably be revoked every time the majority demographic shifts?

Today when I look at my country that’s what I  see. Rather than the…

Artemisia – Absinthium poetry by pd lyons

ARTEMISIA – ABSINTHIUM

The red spiders with long legs

Do not fear her

As they make their way around the worm wood

Knowing this is home.

From foraging into damp shade

They come with tender spider joy

Happy to be safe.

Knowing if they trespass

Her milky white wrists

They will be met

With only laughter

What Better Places To Go Be Spiritual? by pd lyons

sometimes we forget to go

sometimes we forget the land needs healing

the dead cannot be denied, nor should they

sometimes we believe by hating we will heal

sometimes we believe by fear we will over come

I cannot do this

I refuse to do this

I will go to every Auschwitz, every slave pit, every Hiroshima, Guantanamo, wounded knee, Normandy,

every Nanking every Tibet every Gaza strip

every lepers broken heart

I will not turn away

not for all the political correctness in the western world

and to all those who ask

all those who demand

all those who threaten

I’ve nothing to say –

‘cept fuck you and your cowardly way

Women We Should Know – Ani di Franco

So one of the cool things about haunting second hand shops is the accidental discovery of very wonderful things. Sometimes a rare book, sometimes a masterpiece by james joyce for a dollar, sometimes museum quality Matisse for a tenner….  Maybe you know what i mean? So on this particular day in a goodwill shop in Torrington Ct. Shelly picked up this 2cd set called Canon by Ani DiFranco. I had never heard of Ani DiFranco but it was half a buck so we bought more than 2hours of Ani for fifty cents and it was a treasure! So below is the links to a video and the lyrics of one of my many favorites on the set. She is a woman we should know, an artist who is so cool for me to know

“Untouchable Face”

think i’m going for a walk now
i feel a little unsteady
i don’t want nobody to follow me
‘cept maybe you
i could make you happy you know
if you weren’t already
i could do a lot of things
and i dotell you the truth i prefer
the worst of you
too bad you had to have a better half
she’s not really my type
but i think you two are forever
and i hate to say it but
you’re perfect together

so fuck you
and your untouchable face
and fuck you
for existing in the first place
and who am i
that i should be vying for your touch
and who am i
i bet you can’t even tell me that much

two-thirty in the morning
and my gas tank will be empty soon
neon sign on the horizon
rubbing elbows with the moon
a safe haven of sleepless
where the deep fryer’s always on
radio is counting down
the top 20 country songs
and out on the porch the fly strip is
waving like a flag in the wind
y’know, i don’t look forward
to seeing you again soon
you’ll look like a photograph of yourself
taken from far far away
and i won’t know what to do
and i won’t know what to say

except fuck you…

i see you and i’m so perplexed
what was i thinking
what will i think of next
where can i hide
in the back room there’s a lamp
that hangs over the pool table
and when the fan is on it swings
gently side to side
there’s a changing constellation
of balls as we are playing
i see orion and say nothing
the only thing i can think of saying

is fuck you…
